110% done [lysander, remy]

Hadley was in a bad mood. Earlier he'd had a meeting with an important clio he had worked with time and time again in the past without issue, who suddenly seemed to have come down with a bad case of Clara-syndrome. The guy had walked on eggshells the entire meeting when he wasn't being obliviously condescending, and if that wasn't enough, the meeting took so fucking long that it fucked up Hadley's whole schedule for the day. So on top of everything else he had to work through lunch and dinner to get everything he needed done on time.

He was tired and starving by the time he was finally done, and wandered out of his office for the first time in several hours to go get something from the kitchen. He walked in and ran straight into someone's back on accident. "Get out of my way," he said, annoyed and in no mood to apologize or be polite. He didn't care who it was. Nila didn't tell him, either, because she knew that his already bad mood was about to get a whole lot worse as soon as he found out.

Lysander on the other hand was in a pretty decent mood. He had just gotten home from a date with some chick named Nelda that he met at a bar in Dahlin. He had taken her to the same expensive restaurant Remy had taken him to a while ago in Lilycove, and had a meal that was just as good as the last. Which by the way Remy indirectly paid for. Lysander was always asking for money from his sister.

The whole time Lysander was acting like a big shot, and even told her that Hadley's estate was actually Lysander's. (He didn't mention Hadley.) Nelda was eating it up like a cat eats up tuna fish, if he had wanted to, Lysander could have totally gotten laid. He wanted to play with her a little bit more though, and told he'd send a letter to her.

Once he got home, he went to the kitchen so that he could eat his leftovers from dinner. He was about to set his container of food on the counter to prepare it when somebody bumped right into him, causing him to drop his food on the floor. The container opened and the contents spilt onto the linoleum.

"Shit!" Was all he could say, before turning around and seeing Hadley. Fuck.

Hadley wrote:"Get out of my way,"

"Or an 'excuse me' would have been better," he replied, a scowl on his face. "Or a 'sorry for making you drop your food, Lysander!'"

Hadley felt his irritation increase exponentially when he heard Lysander's annoying fucking voice coming from the clio he'd run into. Especially since Lysander was being his usual asshole self. And apparently now there was shit on the floor he had to worry about stepping on. "It isn't my fault you dropped your food," Hadley said, even though it totally was. In his mind, it was clearly Lysander's fault for standing where he was walking. "Now get out of my way."

He shoved past Lysander and made his way to the refrigerator, going along the counter on the far left side of the room to avoid the general vicinity of Lysander's mess. He felt for the refrigerator door handle and pulled it open. Nila directed him to some pasta that was leftover from the dinner he'd missed today.

Not wanting to deal with Lysander or anyone else, he turned around intending to take it back to his bedroom to eat.

Hadley wrote:"It isn't my fault you dropped your food,"

"Uh actually it kind of is," Lysander replied, as Hadley pushed passed him. "I know you're blind, but you don't have to shuffle around like a quiet little mouse." If Lysander had known Hadley was walking into the kitchen, he would have moved out of his way. But the guy was walking around like a fucking ninja. He sighed while shaking his head, staring at the delicious food that was now ruined on the floor. Dammit he paid good money for that food!

"Sorry my blindness inconveniences you so much," Hadley replied bitingly. Before he could leave to eat in peace, he had to find silverware, and he was not about to ask for Lysander's help. He opened the drawer that usually had silverware only to feel that it was full of hand towels. Fucking kitchen staff. If he knew which one was constantly rearranging shit, he'd fire them without a second thought. "I'll wear a fucking bell from now on since you apparently can't hear footsteps." Seriously, how fucking hard could it be to just stay the hell out of his way?

"Yeah, that would probably be smart," Lysander replied. He watched Hadley search for some silverware and smirked when he couldn't find them. "Need some help?" He asked. Without waiting for an answer, Lysander made his way over to the silverware drawer and grabbed a fork for Hadley. He approached Hadley and held it out to him. "Say please."

Hadley had pretty much gotten to the point in his life when just hearing the word "help" was enough to piss him off. And that was when clio weren't offering it just to be condescending twats like Lysander was now. "If I needed help I'd ask for it," he snapped, forcefully shutting the drawer he'd been searching through. He heard Lysander open a different drawer and the clanging of silverware.

Hadley was not a violent man, but if he was, Lysander would probably be on fire right now. "Go fuck yourself," he said, shoving Lysander out of his way a second time and opening the drawer himself.

"Such a temper," Lysander replied. He followed Hadley to the silverware drawer, and reached over him to put the fork back. "I hope you don't talk to my sister like that." To be honest though Lysander really did hope he didn't talk to Remy like that. He highly doubted that she would allow him to talk like that though, she seemed very confident and too proud to let any guy treat her like crap. He realized that he was actually enjoying her company, and getting to know her.

"Oh yes, I'm sure you're so worried about Remy's feelings," Hadley said sarcastically. He almost wanted to laugh, even though he didn't find it humorous, at how Lysander thought he could try to play the brother card when he was only hanging around for Remy's money. It pissed him off to no end the way Lysander played with Remy's feelings, making her feel bad about something that wasn't her fault to get presents out of her. But Remy still refused to see it. "That must be why you're draining her bank account and making her feel guilty that Elisabeth picked her instead of you. Which was clearly a good decision, by the way."

Dick. Lysander wasn't sure what to say at first. Gods Hadley was an asshole. He didn't want it to be obvious that Hadley had finally struck a nerve. "Whatever dickwad," was all he could say. He made it sound like he was just brushing it off. Quietly, he made his way over to the kitchen table and grabbed a chair. He moved it in front of the opening of the kitchen, hoping his plan would work. Luckily the kitchen table was close to the doorway.

You're going to hurt the guy! Layla moaned.

Lysander ignored her though. Hadley went too far. It was funny to bicker like they were, but Lysander hated being a foster child, it made his life miserable, and although he never liked to admit it, he was never a very happy clio because of it.

When all smartass Lysander could reply with was a lame,

Hadley, satisfied, decided he had been enough of an asshole for now, and went back to his original plan of going to his room to eat without anyone there to bother him. He turned back to the kitchen doorway to leave, wanting to get out of there before Lysander decided he wanted to argue some more.

Nila, who had been preoccupied by reading a newspaper that someone had left on the counter, looked up to follow him and immediately realized what Lysander had done. Hadley, watch out-! she warned just a tad too late. Hadley hit the chair and fell face-first, everything flying out of his hands. He hit the ground hard and just laid there for a second, too stunned to react at first.

That is, until he heard Lysander start laughing, and his surprise was quickly replaced with a powerful combination of embarrassment and anger. He slowly got to his feet, uninjured (except for his pride) and furious. He. Was. Done. Done with Lysander. Done with being disrespected and humiliated because he couldn't see. Done with everyone thinking they could get away with treating him like this.

"I want you out," he said, his voice surprisingly low and even.

Lysander's planned worked! He actually cringed a little when Hadley's face hit the floor, but he couldn't help but laugh. All Layla could do was shake her head sadly. Why didn't clio listen to their daemons?

Hadley wrote:"I want you out,"

"For what?" Lysander replied. "I didn't do anything!" Although it was obvious that he did. He just didn't want to leave. He had it good here, where would he go now? However great his chair trick was, he was going to really regret it in the long run.

Hadley didn't even dignify Lysander's denial with a response. His mind was made up. Lysander could beg to stay for all he cared, but he was not living here anymore. "I'll give you...twenty-four hours," he decided. Not a lot of time at all, but Lysander was fucking lucky Hadley didn't throw him out on his ass right this second. "If any of your shit is still here after that, it's getting thrown out."

Nila looked between the two nervously. While she understood Hadley's feelings on the matter and did agree that Lysander had gone too far, she knew that Remy was not going to be okay with this. She didn't even bother saying any of this now though, she knew that Hadley was far too angry to listen right now.

"And what do you think Remy is going to say about all of this?" Lysander asked, patronizingly. Layla was begging Lysander to just shut up and leave Hadley alone, before he got punched or something, but Lysander wasn't having it. This was bad.

Hadley turned around so that Lysander could see the look of cold disdain on his face. He wanted Lysander to know exactly how little he cared about him or where he went from here on out. Hadley didn't care if he wound up on the streets at this point. "I don't think it matters," he said icily. "Because this is my estate. In fact, this entire country is mine. So unless you want to get thrown out of Earalas too, you should probably shut your fucking mouth and start packing."

Remy walked up the drive, seeing everything through a tiny lens. She'd spent the day in Adhbhar, doing some adviser stuff. Hadley had been busy doing something else, otherwise she would have suggested they go together. Honestly, for living together they didn't see a lot of each other these days. She snapped a picture of a beautiful tree whose leaves were just beginning to change color. Fall was coming. Remy couldn't wait to capture her favorite season in pictures. Her room was already full of her snapshots that she had captured, along with a few of the ones Hadley had snapped.

Maybe if Hadley was home already he would like to go get some ice cream, Remy thought. All the ice cream places would be shutting down soon as cooler weather rolled in. They might as well get some while it was still around.

Remy opened the front door of the estate, ready to call Hadley's name as she so often did, when she heard heated voices coming from the kitchen-ular area. They sounded like...Hadley and Lysander's. Of course. Her boyfriend and brother didn't get along, that was common knowledge. But they'd never actually fought.

"What the hell is going on?" Remy asked as she walked towards the voices. She quickly surveyed the scene-- Hadley and Lysander were looking at each other, furious looks on both their faces. A chair laid toppled over on the floor in between them.

The glare didn't leave Hadley's face, even when he heard Remy come in, though secretly his heart sank a little. He wasn't looking forward to her reaction to all this. "Lysander is moving out," he said stiffly. He knew she wasn't going to be happy, but he wasn't going to let her change his mind about Lysander again. Letting him move in had been a mistake from the start. "He was just about to start packing."

He mentally prepared himself for the argument that was about to ensue. He figured Remy would take Lysander's side at first--she was under the mistaken impression that Lysander could literally do no wrong--but he was hoping she'd come to understand his side of things after an explanation.

"Hadley is kicking me out," Lysander corrected. He was staring hard at Hadley. He knew that he couldn't see, but it didn't matter. He looked away to look at Remy, his face softening a little bit. He hoped that she would be on his side. "He tripped over a chair, and now he's kicking me out."

Remy was completely caught off guard by Hadley's declaration. Lysander was leaving? But she didn't have time to think about it too in depth or even start to ask about it, because suddenly her brother offered a rebuttal. The chair. Remy looked back down at the ground, the chair still toppled over. It clicked, instantly. Hadley had tripped and blamed it on Lysander.

The workers in the estate were constantly doing things to fool Hadley, now that he couldn't see. A way of payback, Remy thought. Of course they'd never done it while Remy could see, but she wasn't stupid. She'd thought it was funny at first, when they'd only done small things like rearrange the cabinets, but it hadn't stopped, even months after Hadley's accident. In fact, Remy had started telling them off whenever something new happened, but it hadn't seemed to phase them. It had slowed, but was obviously still going on. And the chair was unacceptable. It wasn't just an inconvenience--Hadley could have seriously been injured.

"Hadley," Remy said back, keeping her voice even. "Lysander wouldn't have done that." She was irritated with Hadley for always blaming everything on her brother. It was one thing to not like a guy, but it was a completely different story to accuse someone of something so serious and then kick them out for it. Where would Lysander even go?

And there it was. Remy's absolute refusal to accept that Lysander could ever do anything wrong, just because they happened to share the same mother. Hadley wasn't surprised at Remy's reaction, but he was still annoyed by it. He just did not understand where her total confidence in Lysander's goodness came from, when in all reality she didn't know him at all. "I know he did it, Remy, I was there when it happened," he said, matching her even tone. Really, Remy of all clio should know better that just because he couldn't see didn't mean he was an oblivious idiot who couldn't put two and two together.

Perfect. Remy believed Lysander. He knew that she would. Lysander was Remy's perfect, wonderful, nice brother. He'd never do something like this! "It was not me," he told Remy. "It was probably one of his servants! They're always doing mean things to him!"

"It was probably one of the staff," Remy said, agreeing with her brother. "I mean, would it be so hard to believe if one of them had left it out for you to trip over? Honestly?" They did stuff like this all the time, but Remy had never seen Lysander do anything even once. Because he wouldn't. Especially not something as dangerous as this.

"We were the only two in the room," Hadley retorted impatiently, frustrated at Remy's total lack of belief in him. She hadn't even been there and still thought she knew what happened better than he did. "It wasn't there when I walked in. Even if someone else did somehow sneak in and do it, Lysander still just stood there watching and didn't tell me." And then laughed, which Hadley was sure Lysander would deny and Remy wouldn't believe, so he didn't bother mentioning it. "Either way, he's not living here anymore."

He didn't even know why he was bothering defending his position, it wasn't up for debate anyways. There was nothing either of them could do or say that would change his mind.

"Remy you have to believe me," Lysander told her, a slight waver in his voice. "I did not move that chair!" He had a sad look in his eyes, hoping it would make him seem even more believable.

Hadley wrote:"It wasn't there when I walked in. Even if someone else did somehow sneak in and do it, Lysander still just stood there watching and didn't tell me."

"Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't," he said, commenting on Hadley's the-chair-not-being-there-before statement. "But I wasn't constantly looking at the door either!" He told his sister about fixing up his own food, then finding a fork for Hadley, that he so rudely refused.

"You're saying even if he wasn't the one who did it you're still going to kick him out?" Remy asked harshly, her voice pitching in volume. "Clio here move things around all the time, it's because you're an asshole. I don't see you kicking any of them out." She regretted her words, but stood by them. Hadley knew it was true.

"And if Lysander was trying to help you in the kitchen, he wasn't paying attention to the doorway. You're the one that refused his help." Hell, if Hadley had been a dick to her, she would have let him walk into the chair too. But Lysander even said that didn't happen. Hadley just wanted an excuse to kick him out, and it infuriated Remy to no end. Lysander was not leaving.
