you're really pretty ;; amerie

So Luka had gotten the job! His father and mother were probably proud, but when he shared the news they acted indifferent. Too busy with their own lives to care. It didn't matter though, he was finally getting out of that house, finally doing things on his own without having to worry whether or not it was going to disappoint his father. He moved in about a week ago, and had immediately began working with and getting to know his new boss. The overloridian was a doll. She was so kind and sweet, and beautiful to beat. Luka didn't realize it at first, but he was actually starting to develop a little crush on her. He kept trying to push the feelings away, because it just seemed so inappropriate to date your boss, let alone the freaking overloridian of Solas!

Today Amerie had brought Luka to the power plant that she and the overloridian of Dian had been working on together. She gave him a tour and explained to him how everything was going to work. It was fascinating, the things clio could do nowadays. So much technology! During the whole tour he couldn't help but notice how pretty she looked in the sunlight. Iris had to warn him several times, and each time he felt embarrassed and had to avert his attention.

"This is amazing," he told her as they walked alongside each other. "I can't wait to see this baby when it's complete!"

Amerie was so happy! Luka had only been employed in Solas for a week, but he was already doing such a great job as an adviser! He helped her out with whatever she asked, and he even did some stuff without needing to be told. And one of the best things? He helped her make hard decisions, and once the decision had been made, Amerie was really happy with them. The decisions they came to together were always the ones that she would have come to on her own... if she had spent way more time thinking about them. Luka just made her job easier, and so much more fun.

Now she got to have fun while she was doing the political part of her overloridian stuff, just like she got to have fun with Aran when she was doing the physical part of her overloridian stuff. She'd also been going to see Tamar every once in awhile, which made her even happier. The strict overloridian had actually been really nice to Amerie and whenever she went to see her, she always gave her great advice.

Life had done almost a 180 since she'd become overloridian a few months ago. It was great!

Today she was showing Luka around the brand new power plant that she and Tamar had been building. It would be done any day now. Amerie couldn't wait to see how it would work! She was so excited for the first of her really big plans to come to fruition.

"Thank you!" she said to Luka, proudly. She loved that he loved it! It was especially nice that he loved it because

"I actually brought you out here to show you around, because I was thinking that this could be part of your jurisdiction. Maybe you could help me hire the workers for the plant?" There was a lot that was going to go into this project, even after it had been built. It would need to be kept up, and Amerie knew she wouldn't be able to give it as much attention as it would need, because of all her other responsibilities.

Luka raised his eyebrows when Amerie told him about her plans. It was a lot of responsibility to take on the plant, but Luka felt like he could do it. He felt honored that she trusted him well enough to already give him something so important, he smiled.

"Amerie," he replied. "I feel so honored that you trust me with this!" He motioned to the plant that sheltered them. "This huge, fantastic structure!"

His smile was directed toward her now.

Amerie returned the smile, her face lighting up. "I'm so happy to hear you say that! It's going to be a lot of work, so I know I am going to need a lot of help!"

She looked around the giant thing, thinking how incredible it was that this was going to supply all of Dian with power. She felt important, that she was needed for something that necessary. It was good to feel needed.

The long hallways were full of clio working on putting the finishing touches on the structure. Soon it would be in full power--bustling with electricity. Amerie couldn't wait.

"I will help you the best I can!" Luka replied. Amerie's smile was so beautiful. She looked so happy and proud. It made him happy, and it also made him brave. He decided that he would ask her out. The worst that would happen would be her turning him down. That wasn't too much of a big deal, he could handle that. Just as long as she didn't fire him!

"Um, Amerie?" He started to ask, feeling suddenly shy. "Can we go to your office? Or maybe some place more private?"

Much to his daemon's protest, he was going to do it. He was just going to take a chance. He wanted this.

Amerie got a little confused when Luka asked her to go to her office. Was something wrong? Had she done something wrong?

"Oh, um, sure," she told him, suddenly losing all her confidence. She didn't have an office at the plant, but there was a manager's office that wasn't occupied yet. She took Luka there and shut the door behind them.

"Is something wrong?" she asked, once they were behind closed doors.

Amerie wrote:"Is something wrong?"

"No, no not at all," Luka replied. He rubbed the back of his head, shuffled his feet, and rested his hands on his hips. He felt so nervous. "Um...okay...I uh...okay..." He took a deep breath then made eye contact with his overloridian. "I really think you're great and uh...really pretty and...I don't, er...this is probably inappropriate," he braced himself, and grimaced. "Iwanttotakeyououtsometime!"

Luka's obvious nervousness was making Amerie even more nervous. She felt awkward, watching the usually composed man stutter around.

Amerie's eyebrows raised. "What?" she asked. For all his stammering, she'd still been able to understand him. Now he was just being nonsensical.

I think he just asked you out! Caviar pipped, surprised. This had never happened to them before!

Instantly, Amerie felt her face grow warm. No, she told her daemon. That couldn't have been what just happened.

Iris rolled her little birdy eyes.

"I...want to take you out sometime..." Luka replied, more slowly. Oh Gods, she looked horrified. She's not interested in him at all. So stupid! Why did he do this to himself? He shouldn't have done this. "It's okay," he said. "I understand, I'm sorry, you don't have to say yes...I'll uh, I'll go back home and work on some paperwork, I'm sorry." Oh Gods.

"You do?" Amerie asked, completely caught off guard. "Why?"

She'd never thought he had showed any interest in her at all. And while he was cute, she'd never let her mind go anywhere past that. She barely had time for all her work--she didn't think about Luka unless she was with him. Did he think about her?

Maybe you just weren't paying attention! Caviar said. This could be really good for Amerie! She needed to break out of her shell a little more. Say yes!

"It's alright, it's alright," Luka replied, obviously not listening to her. "I understand, I'm overstepping my boundaries, I'll go!" Ugh. He felt so horribly embarrassed. "Wait," he looked back up at her. "Did you ask why?"

That was a silly question. Sure, Luka hadn't been outright flirting with Amerie, but he thought maybe his smiles and the way he looked at her had given him away. "Amerie..." he said shyly, looking down. "I've never met somebody so amazing like you, you just shine with confidence and you're so kind," he looked back up at her. "I mean look at what you're doing for Dian!" He smiled enthusiastically. "You're helping an eilemaiden that isn't even yours!"

Amerie blushed. Did he really think all that nice stuff about her? That she was confident and kind?

"Luka," she began, about to tell him that he had it all wrong. She wasn't any of those things. She was shy and weak and it took her forever to make a good decision. She hadn't even known how to use her eilemaiden without help!

"She'd love to go out with you!" Caviar told Luka quickly, making the decision before Amerie could ruin anything for herself.

"Sh-she would?" Luka asked, talking to Amerie's daemon. "I mean...would she?" This time, he was looking at Amerie.

Amerie was too nervous and jittery to even glare at her daemon. "I-I," she stumbled, trying to decide if he really liked her or if this was some joke. "I... sure," she told him, her cheeks burning.

"I mean, yes, yes I'll go out with you," she said, trying to smooth things out a little bit. Oh Gods, this was so embarrassing! WHY was so she awkward?

All of Luka's confidence came back to him. He felt sort of giddy, like a little kid, but that was okay. Iris could do nothing but shake her little birdy head. Hopefully this wouldn't come back to bite him. "Oh Amerie you've made me so happy!" He said while walking toward her. "When are you free?" He asked excitedly. "Oh my goodness you're probably so busy!" He tapped his chin thoughtfully. "I know, I'll just work extra hard so you have less work to do!"
