i am the happiest man alive ;; hadley

For the first time in a while, Kole was smiling. He was so happy, he was freaking humming. He knew that Yuri was good, but he didn't know he was that good! He needed somebody to teach Hadley a lesson for snooping around in places he shouldn't. Sure, Tamar was a nosy bitch, but at least she didn't actually show up in Deilig. But that had been where Yuri came in. He hired the guy because he wanted Hadley roughed up a little. Okay, more like he wanted Hadley beaten to a pulp. He didn't want to kill the guy, he just wanted him to suffer, and Hadley lost his eyesight! Oh Gods it was like Ahtnamas!

Kole decided today was a good day to pay his good friend Hadley a visit. He even bought him a lovely bouquet of daisies. It's too damn bad he couldn't enjoy how pretty they were, but at least he could smell them!

After checking in at the desk to find which room he was in, Kole headed there with a bounce in his step. Fuck he was in a good mood!

"Oh Hadley!" Kole sing-songed while knocking on the door and simultaneously opening it. "It's so good to see you again! Such a damn shame it's under such circumstances..."

Closing the door behind him, he stepped closer and took a seat next to Hadley's bed. "How are you doing, Earalas?"

Hadley was initially confused as fuck when someone knocked and a cheerful voice he wasn't sure he recognized greeted him. It took him a good couple of seconds to realize the owner of the voice was Kole. The cheerful, sing-songy tone made him almost unrecognizable. (And that "see" comment--since when did Kole have such a witty fucking sense of humor?) He wasn't even sure he was right until he was called "Earalas."

He knew it. He fucking knew Kole was the one who had this done to him. And having him just come fucking waltzing in here...Hadley had never been so angry before in his life...he wanted to set the entire fucking hospital on fire just so it would burn Kole to death.

He took some deep breaths, trying to calm down. He couldn't let Kole know how much it affected him. He wasn't going to give him that satisfaction. "I'm doing fine," Hadley said in an incredibly forced tone of voice. "It's awfully nice of you to go out of your way to come visit me, Kole."

"Oh you know," Kole replied while patting Hadley's arm. "Just wanted to pay my good buddy a visit." He could tell that Hadley wasn't happy he was visiting, but wasn't that why he wanted to come? "Oh! I brought you flowers," he said while shifting the bouquet so the plastic around them would make a sound. "They're daisies...sad you can't see them though." He looked at them, then carelessly tossed them onto the bedside table. "They're the typical daises, yellow middle, white petals, the sun loving mother fuckers." He laughed and shook his head, and ran a hand down his face. "Now who the fuck could have done this to you?" He knew Hadley knew, but it was more fun to play with him.

Hadley flinched when Kole patted his arm suddenly, not used to people touching him unexpectedly. "Thank you so much for that description, Kole, I had already forgotten what daises looked like," he said caustically, imagining what the daises would smell like while they were burning. Along with Kole's corpse.

Kole wrote:"Now who the fuck could have done this to you?"

"Just some sick bastard, I guess," Hadley replied with a shrug. "Maybe someone who gets off on power in order to compensate for certain areas lacking in their life. That's just a guess, though."

Kole chuckled and slapped his knee. "Now that's the Hadley I know!" he said. "Such a trooper! Lying there, so weak, blind, and vulnerable, and he's still cracking jokes!" He shook his head. The hatred he had for this kid would forever be emanating in his soul, but his happiness was just too much right now. He wondered what it was like, being blind. He didn't even know what pitch blackness was because he could see in it. Poor, stupid, Hadley. "Oh, but cheer up, buttercup! At least you're not dead yet!"

Hadley had never seen experienced Kole in a good mood before, and in addition to being infuriating due to how badly he was being mocked, it was also incredibly unnerving. Kole just seemed one hundred percent more unpredictable like this. And it had recently been proven to Hadley just how wrong he was about thinking he could predict Kole's actions at all.

"Yeah," he agreed, his brow furrowing. "It kind of makes me wonder why he didn't just kill me. Whoever it was."

"Well maybe," Kole replied, while leaning back in his chair and propping his legs up on Hadley's bed. "They wanted to teach you a lesson, you do after all have an issue with sticking your nose where it doesn't belong." He folded his hands and stuck them behind his head, looking so relaxed and content in the hospital room. He wondered how long he was going to play along with Hadley. It was too much, he felt so warm and happy inside. It was kind of bizarre.

"They'd have to be pretty fucking stupid to attack an overloridian for something like that," Hadley retorted, feeling really on edge. He clenched his fists. "It would probably draw a whole lot of attention to whatever business I was supposedly sticking my nose into."

Nila was underneath the hospital bed listening, wondering what the hell it could possibly take to get Hadley to stop antagonizing Kole, if beating and blinding him apparently wasn't enough.

"Maybe," Kole responded. "But maybe other clio aren't as fucking stupid as you!" His voice took on the sing-songy tone again, mocking Hadley. Not even Tamar would have shown her face in Deilig, he'd have to hand it to  Hadley, kid's got balls. Sort of. He hoped that Yuri had kicked him in the balls a couple times.

The last couple days had been full of firsts for Hadley, and today, at this moment, was the first time he ever completely lost control of his emotions. Maybe it was adrenaline from his anger, or maybe it was the medicine dulling his pain considerably, but he was able to lunge halfway out of bed in the direction of Kole's voice, reaching out for him. One hand got nothing more than a handful of shirt, but his other hand found its way to Kole's neck and squeezed.

"Fuck you, Kole!" he yelled, completely out of his mind with anger. "I didn't fucking deserve this! Not from you!"

"Temper, temper," Kole replied, his voice strained significantly. He calmly reached up, grabbed the arm Hadley was using to choke Kole with, squeezed, and twisted. His neck was released instantly, and he cleared his throat. "You shouldn't move so much Earalas," he said to him, while forcing him back into the bed. "You might break something."

Just as quickly as Hadley had sprung up, Kole administered a punch to Hadley's rib cage. It wasn't enough to break more bones, but it was enough to hurt him severely. His pinned Hadley's shoulders down, so that the little worm would stop writhing in pain, and leaned in closely to his ear.

"Now you listen to me Earalas, and you listen to me good!" He growled. "If I ever catch you anywhere near my kingdom I will see to it that your pretty little adviser and your lovely sister die by my hand." He continued, "And I will make damn well sure that you're there to hear them beg for their lives and scream in agony, as I slowly skin them alive!"

Kole straightened his back, and adjusted the collar of his shirt. "Now you have a wonderful day, Hadley Sterling," he told him as he started walking toward the door. "Or maybe I should say evening from now on." He threw his head back and laughed almost maniacally, then left the hospital without a second glance.

Hadley knew he'd made a stupid mistake as soon as Kole twisted his arm. He was still livid, but he was also shocked at what he'd just done. He'd never snapped like that before, because he knew losing control of one's emotions never led to good decisions.

Sure enough the next thing he knew he was forced down and punched in the side, hard, bringing back a flood of pain along with memories of that fateful night. As he grimaced and moaned with pain, Kole leaned down and said in his ear:

Remy and Sol. How did Kole even know about them, let alone know that they were the only people in the world Hadley would miss? Just how much had he underestimated about Kole?

After Kole left, not before mocking him one last time and laughing insanely, Hadley just wanted to scream. Solange had been right. Even Kole was fucking right. He brought this on himself. He had been completely and utterly beaten at his own game.
